A historic schoolhouse, a new academic life.
+VG transformed the late nineteenth-century Victoria School into a home for the Smith School of Business. Serving as Prime Consultant, the practice integrated the Richardsonian Romanesque schoolhouse with a substantial addition. A skylit atrium brings the original east façade into the new public interior.
Completed in September 2014, the second phase added a west wing and a forecourt facing the wider university. A glazed gathering space, the Commons, overlooks this new campus threshold. The addition provides teaching spaces, faculty offices and underground parking, and achieved LEED NC Gold certification.
